Music Moving Mountains at local Schools

Music Moving Mountains has kicked off brilliantly for 2017. Children from Tatura, Stanhope and Dhurringile P.S have enjoyed music sessions each week developing their appreciation for the arts further, encouraging team work, positive self- concept and self-worth amongst one another.

The children have learnt musical concepts through games, song, dance, and drama activities. Lindy Tenant has further developed the 5/6s musical skills and enthusiasm for music, coordinating the band program which all the children look forward to each week. Throughout the term the children have had opportunities to perform with the Mooroopna Secondary School students in concert at the Westside Theatre in Mooroopna. Family and friends were delighted to see the amazing results and the joy the children are receiving from being involved in the program.

The children can now read basic four beat rhythms and the 5/6s are reading notation when playing their instrument of choice in concert band. On a Monday Lindy visits

Tatura P.S and runs group lessons for clarinet, flute, trumpet, trombone and saxophone. Nicole helps with percussion and piano lessons. The children come together for band practice at lunchtime. Each week the children learn different exercises on their instrument of choice and songs which they perform in band practice.

Lindy and Nicole work closely together to build a real sense of community within the school through music and their passion for music filters down to the children, staff and parents. They are delighted with the response and outcomes. All the children are enjoying a developmental music program that engages the children in learning and brings the wider school community together.
